Reservation types

A reservation type is a service you offer — Full Groom, Bath & Brush, Puppy Cut, Daycare Day, and so on. It defines what customers and staff can book, how long it takes, and what it costs. Reservation types are the backbone of your calendar and your online booking.
What you can do
- Create and edit the services you offer.
- Set a base rate and a default duration.
- Group services under a booking category (e.g., Grooming, Daycare) so they organize cleanly for customers.
- Mark a type active or inactive to retire a service without losing its history.
- Configure booking behavior — deposits, requirements, and policies — per type.
How to create a reservation type
- Go to Manage → Reservation types.
- Click + New reservation type.
- Set the name, the base rate, and the duration (how long it blocks on the calendar).
- Assign a booking category so it groups correctly for customers.
- Save.
How to edit or retire a service
- Open the reservation type from the list.
- Update the name, rate, duration, or category.
- To retire it, set it inactive — existing appointments keep their history, but the service stops appearing in new bookings.
Tips & best practices
- Duration drives the calendar. Set realistic times so back-to-back grooms don't collide.
- Name for the customer. "Full Groom — Large Dog" reads better on a booking page than an internal code.
- Booking categories keep your menu tidy when customers self-book — group all your grooming services together, all your daycare options together.
- Pair with add-ons. Keep the core service lean and let add-on services handle the extras (nail trim, teeth brushing, de-shed).

[Open on Manage → Reservation types, a list of services.]
"Everything you book in Woofpos starts as a reservation type — a service you offer. Full Groom, Bath & Brush, Puppy Cut, Daycare Day.
[Click + New reservation type.] Creating one is simple: give it a name, set the price, and set how long it takes — that duration is what blocks time on the calendar.
[Assign a booking category.] Drop it in a category, like Grooming or Daycare, so your menu stays organized — especially when customers book online.
[Toggle active/inactive on an existing type.] Retiring a seasonal service? Just set it inactive. Old appointments keep their history; it simply stops showing up in new bookings.
[Cut to the calendar booking flow showing the service list.] Get your reservation types right, and booking — at the desk or online — gets fast and accurate."
