Plan: Included · Where: on owner and pet profiles · Who uses it: everyone at the front desk

Tags are quick, color-coded flags you put on owners and pets. They surface the things your team needs to know in a split second — "VIP," "balance owed," "escape risk," "bites for nails" — without anyone having to read through notes.

What you can do

  • Create your own tags with names and colors.
  • Apply tags to owners and to pets.
  • See them at a glance wherever that owner or pet appears.
  • Edit or remove tags as your needs change.

How to create a tag

  1. Open your tag settings (managed alongside owners/pets).
  2. Click New tag, give it a clear name and a color.
  3. Save.

How to apply a tag

  1. Open an owner or pet profile.
  2. Add the tag from the tags control.
  3. It now shows on that profile — and anywhere the record is referenced.

Good tags to start with

TagUse it for
VIPYour best, most frequent customers
Balance owedCollect at the front desk before they leave
Handle with careNervous or reactive pets
Escape riskPets that bolt — double-check doors and gates
New clientFirst-timers who may need extra hand-holding

Tips & best practices

  • Keep the list short and meaningful. A handful of high-signal tags beats dozens nobody reads.
  • Use color consistently — reds for caution, greens for good standing — so the team learns them instantly.
  • Pets vs. owners. Put handling flags on the pet and account flags (like balance owed) on the owner.

Title: Flag what matters — tags Length: ~60s

[Open on an owner profile with a couple of colored tags visible.]

"Some things your team needs to know the instant a customer walks in. That's what tags are for.

[Point to a red 'Handle with care' tag on a pet.] A color-coded flag right on the pet or owner — 'handle with care,' 'escape risk,' 'VIP,' 'balance owed.'

[Open tag settings, create one.] Make your own: give it a name, pick a color, save.

[Apply it to a profile.] Then drop it onto any owner or pet, and it shows up everywhere that record appears.

[Back to the calendar/desk view.] No digging through notes. The front desk just sees it — and acts on it. Keep them few, keep them meaningful, and your whole team stays in the know."
